When we moved to Loenen, the Drenthe heath sheep came into my life. The sheep shearer told me that the wool was being thrown away. I thought: “There must be another way.” That’s how I learnt to felt with sheep’s fleece, and that’s how I came into contact with Inge. She taught me the finer points of felting with fleece and also taught me to look at wool in a different way. She taught me felting techniques such as needle felting and slipper felting. That’s how I discovered that wool has so much more to offer than simply providing insulation for sheep and people. It transforms under your fingers when you work it with your hands, water and soap, or with a needle. The lovely thing about wool is that it has a ‘mind of its own’, and when you go with the flow, extraordinary creations emerge. Come and create with me, and learn just how relaxing, pure and beautiful this natural product – wool – is in all its forms.

For almost 40 years now, I have been enjoying working and playing with young children in an educational setting.
I took up felting in 2019. I’ve been hooked on this technique ever since.
Introducing children to this wonderful way of working with wool and water in a playful way is truly marvellous, both for the child and for myself.
Being able to involve young children in this is therefore a real treat.

How did Wolgoeroe come about?
Wolgoeroe came into being after countless metres of experimentation, practice and perseverance with wool. After 15 years of running workshops and an online shop under the name Studio Namenia, it was time for a transformation. Since 2008, Inge has grown from apprentice to master of wool. She had already obtained her Master of Arts degree in 2003 after completing her studies in Art and Cultural Studies at Erasmus University in Rotterdam.
Since the launch of Studio Namenia in 2011, Inge has delivered hundreds of wool felting workshops and guided many people on their wool-crafting journey. Her knowledge and skills have continued to grow, and creative professionals and businesses frequently call upon her expertise. Whilst Studio Namenia was inspired by the cultivation of the forgotten vegetable, turnip greens (Namenia in Latin), the name ‘Wolgoeroe’ speaks for itself. Surrounded by a team of tutors, trainees and assistants, Inge offers, through Wolgoeroe, a centre of inspiration and creation where everything revolves around wool.
